Your correct this program is usless when used with WindowsME
Loading DOS program from Start folder or registry does not work with a real mode driver in WindowsME.
Testing this program with a modem on com2
There is no incress in throughput AT ALL.
Stop fooling yourselves people. Just because it lets you set a higher speed for the com port does not mean its working.

SHSMODE dont detect my io chipset, but hiserial.sys (for winxp) work ok and detect :

In this case, it may be unsupported chipset.
You can check with DOS boot FD with SHSMOD V1.93(not 2.93).
It should report the chipset information.

SHSMOD doesn't support any internal modem and only support
COM1 and COM2. This is FAQ.

Note that your driver is installed and appears as the second entry under the com port driver details as:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\serial.sys (which has provider as Windows (R) 2000 DDK provider file version 5.00.2195.1620
I managed to get your driver installed by booting in safemode and then running the bat file.. I then rebooted in normal mode and confirmed your driver was still the serial.sys due to the file size (yours has the larger K size).
Im using a serial port ISDN modem called a Telstra NT1 Plus II
This has the latest firmware and drivers.
Im assuming that todate the intel chip set is not supported.. Is it possible to change the chipset firmware/software/driver to something else which would then be detected within the table. I currently dialin at 128k using this box making use of the two 64k phone lines. However the port settings still remain as 115k. The dialup connection when connected reports this as 115k as well. This is I assumming only the link from the pc to the NT1 Plus II box.

Now it's ready.
The below message for VT82C686A|B means serial port is temporaly disabled by ACPM power control. It may support and set "High mode" and will works fine,
but status is unvisible.
